The Shaban Gishu Super Cup 2025 came to a dramatic close this weekend, ending a four-month grassroots football tournament that captured the heart of Roysambu Constituency and Nairobi County.
The finals, held at the Githurai Sports Grounds, drew massive crowds as fans gathered to witness the conclusion of one of Nairobi’s most vibrant community football events. With close to 30 teams taking part in this year’s edition, the tournament showcased raw talent and brought neighborhoods together in a celebration of sport.
In the men’s final, Githurai All-Stars delivered a dominant performance, defeating Roysambu FC 4-1. Their pace, precision, and teamwork were unmatched as they clinched the 2025 title in front of a roaring home crowd.
The women’s final followed with equal intensity as Githurai Starlets outplayed Blitz Women 3-0. Their clean passes, strong defense, and clinical finishing secured them the championship and left no doubt about their rising status in the local football scene.
After the final whistle, the awards ceremony brought out cheers and pride. Trophies and cash prizes were awarded to the winning teams, as leaders, fans, and stakeholders came together to recognize the efforts of the players, coaches, and organizers.
The tournament was powered by the support of the Shaban Foundation and Shaban Gishu & Friends, whose commitment to youth empowerment and sports development was applauded by all in attendance.
What stood out in the 2025 Super Cup wasn’t just the football—it was the sense of purpose and community. The tournament gave young players a platform to shine, and local fans something to rally behind.
With this year’s success, all eyes now turn to 2026. Can the energy, unity, and talent reach even greater heights?
